The Haddock in Norwegian Waters - I. Vertebrae Counts and Brood Strength Variations of young fish
Abstract
The uniformity in vertebrae number, brood strength and growth
which has been shown to exist in young haddock from northern Norway
and the Barents Sea implies that these areas are inhabited by one main
population.
The main spawning ground of this population is probably located
south of Lofoten.
It is to be hoped that future investigations (including tagging experiments)
which are being planned, will soon give us further information
of the life history of the haddock in this area.
