The investigations on shrimp off Jan Mayen were carried out in October 1979. The best catches were taken along the edge west, south and southeast of the island at depths from 200 to 300 m. The concentrations of shrimp occurred in temperatures ranging from -0,2 to 1,3°c. Examinations of the catches showed that 40-60% of the shrimp were in the soft shelled condition which indicate that a shrimp fishery off Jan Mayen in September - October will result in great discarding of soft-shelled shrimp.en
