The geographical distribution of the recoveries of cod caught the 19th October 1959 at the Finnmark Coast and released the 23rd October the same year at Stad is studied. The migration northwards to the Lofoten area just after releasing (fig. l and tab le l) may have been a passive carriage of the fish within the Atlantic current or the Norwegian coastal current. The migration to southeastern Icelandic waters may have been an active spawning migration against the East-Icelandic current or the cod may have been following the herring across the ocean.en_US
