Experiments on acoustic tagging on cod took place in a limited area of the Barents Sea in February 1975. The work was done during a survey with R.V. «G.O. Sars» when looking for the distribution, abundance and size composition of cod in the southern Barents Sea. Nine fishes with tags having different signal-characteristics were dropped at the same time and place. .After an hour the dropping area was left for several days. Having returned to this point after four days, the sonar, SIMRAD SK 120. was used as hydrophon in «receiving mode» when searching for the tagged fishes. During aproximately 30 hrs four fishes were found. Every tag with its spesific characteristics were determined each time.en_US
