From 10 July to 5 August 1971 capelin investigations were carried out with the Norwegian R.V. "Johan Hjort" in the bank area east of Labrador and Newfoundland off the Canadian fishery border. The recordings of capelin (Mallotus villosus) are correlated with the temperature in 4 m depth and with the temperature at the bottom. It is concluded that in this wide area there are great resources of capelin which are not utilized.en
