dc.description.abstract	As in previous years, an echo survey for 0-group sprat was carried out in late October 1973 in fjords of western Norway. Sprat was found over most of the area, and samples demonstrated that the 0-group dominate. Estimates of abundance were made on the basis of echo integrator readings by calculation of abundance indices from mean readings per nautical mile surveyed and area of each district. From the indices predections of catch in 1974 are provided. A comparison of abundance indices as obtained in autumn 1972 and actual catch in 1973 demonstrate a fair relationship, r == .76 (p <0.01).	en
