During the past year three joint projects have been conducted concerning the fate of organic waste and antibiotics from various Norwegian fish farms. The projects are investigating the following topics: - decomposition rate of organic waste, flux between the sediment and water of various inorganic compounds, and distribution of waste through the marine food chain - the persistance of antibiotics in sediments and its degradation in seawater - development of resistance in bacteria in the sediment. The collaboration of the projects is planned to be extended next year into a larger project as part of a national program concerning the ecological effects of antibiotics.no_NO
