dc.description.abstract	A series of acoustic surveys of the adult component of the Norwegian spring-spawning herring was conducted in Ofotfjorden and Tysfjorden in December 1992. Preliminary results are reported. These include compensation for the effect of extinction when estimating mean abundance, and allowance for autocorrelation when estimating associated variance by means of geostatistics.	no_NO
