Introduction: For the purposes of this report, the meaning of "fish stock assessment" is restricted to any procedure by which the historical and current state of a fish stock is estimated. This definition includes no reference to prediction of possible future states of the stock and no attention was given to prediction in the course of this meeting. It should also be noted that, in real-life assessments, recruitment estimates for the most recent data years are often obtained by techniques additional to those used to analyze the catch-at-age and auxiliary data. No attention was given to such methods at this meeting.no_NO
