The results of a stratified random bottom trawl survey with R/V
"Michael Sars" in April - May 1986 in the Barents Sea between
N71°30' - N75°30' and between E22°00' - E35°30' is described in
this report. The northern part of the Barents Sea between N75°30'
N76°35' and between E25°30' - E35°00' was surveyed in July 1986.
The Svalbard region between N73°00' - N80°30' and between E08°00'
- E25°30' was surveyed in July-August 1986.
Based on data from 146 trawl stations, the biomass of shrimps in
the Barents Sea survey was estimated to about 159 000 tonnes. In
the Spitsbergen area the biomass was estimated to about 22 000
tonnes, calculations based on data from 90 trawl stations.
By-catch data for fish is also given.
