Abstract

This report is to answer a request from the Directorate of Fisheries about possible effects of finfish aquaculture farms on recruitment of marine fish and migration of Atlantic salmon in the coastal waters. The Directorate, as well as the County Councils, need more knowledge about: A) possible effects of localization of fish farms for salmon and cod at, or in the vicinity of, registered spawning grounds for marine species (cod, halibut etc.), B) possible effects of fish farms on migration routes of wild salmon, and C) effects of localization of fish farms in nursery areas of wild marine species. This report presents an updated review of the knowledge on these topics.
