Length, age, and growth of the whiting in different waters are compared. The mean lengths of the 1-group fish from the various areas are approximately the same with the exception of the Danish Waters and Fladen Ground-Faroes (Roessingh 1957). The whiting from the last locality have a greater mean length, both regarding males and female than in the other areas. The whiting from Iceland have a considerably higher growth rate than fish from other localities. The female whiting have a more rapid growth than the males and their maximum size is higher. The whiting do not obtain any high age, and fish more than 6 year are seldom met with.en_US
