dc.description.abstractSeven research vessels from USSR, Norway, GDR, Iceland and the Faroes participated in the fourth ICES-coordinated acoustic survey on blue whiting in the Norwegian Sea and adjacent waters. Blue whiting were recorded over the major part of the Norwegian Sea, with the highest concentrations near the slope around Faroe Islands. The acoustic estimate of blue whiting was 4,9 mill. tonnes. This is an increase of 1,1 mill. tonnes compared to August 1984. The 1982 and 1983 year-classes make up the bulk of the stock.no_NO
