dc.description.abstract	Institute of Marine Research has analysed hydrocarbons (PAH and THC) in sediment cores from 23 locations in MAREANO area, sampled in Nordland VI, Troms III and off the northern coast of Finnmark in 2010. Sedimentological data obtained by Norwegian Geological Survey for sediments 4 of these locations was used for interpreting the results. Low levels of hydrocarbons are found in surface sediments at all the locations, corresponding to KLIF classes I for PAH16, with an increase in combustion-related PAH in modern sediment layers at some locations. An increase in biogenic perylene levels in deep sediments found in a few places is attributed to natural sources.	no_NO
